IV SEDATION
Sleep-like sedation delivered intravenously. This option may be used if you suffer from severe dental anxiety because you won’t feel anything during treatment and will likely not remember anything afterward.
ORAL SEDATION
Sleep-like sedation delivered in pill form. Similar to IV sedation, this option may be suggested if you have heightened dental anxiety since you won’t feel or remember most of your treatment.
NITROUS OXIDE
Inhaled through a mask prior to your treatment. With this so-called “laughing gas,” you will remain alert but calm for the duration of your procedure.
LOCAL ANESTHESIA
Injected or applied directly to the treatment area. This anesthesia numbs only the procedure site.

The True Pitfalls
of Dental Anxiety
Fear can make you avoid even routine dental checkups that don’t involve any procedures or invasive tools. This may cause you to ignore symptoms and may even make you skip dental visits altogether. The potential danger from this is significant, because minor dental health issues that go untreated can become major ones over time.
You may end up with a far more serious condition than you would’ve had you sought out treatment earlier—one that harms your health, requires more frequent and complex procedures to overcome, and increases your total cost for treatment. Don’t let this happen to you! Remember, Dr. O’Neill has the expertise and sedation options to make every visit as smooth as possible.
