As a board-certified periodontist, Dr. O’Neill specializes in the precise placement of dental implants. He’s undergone years of additional training after dental school and continues to expand his education with new courses every year. These enable him to provide you with an exceptional dental implant experience. The process starts with a initial consultation, during which Dr. O’Neill determines if you’re a candidate for dental implants. From there he decides which type will best meet your esthetic and functional needs. He uses implants from all the top manufacturers, so he has plenty of choices.
During the procedure itself he will perform any tooth extractions needed to make room for your implants. He can also begin the bone grafting process if any part of your jawbone needs to be rebuilt before it can support implants. He’ll then insert the titanium posts into your jawbone, which will become permanent as they heal. Before you leave, Dr. O’Neill will add temporary crowns to the posts, so that you can begin to function with a full set of teeth almost immediately. Our office will work with your primary dental provider to ensure that you get your final crowns placed and have any adjustments you may need taken care of.

To keep you as relaxed and pain-free as possible during dental implant placement, Dr. O’Neill provides a variety of sedation options. He is licensed to administer IV sedation, and also uses oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and local anesthetic to manage various aspects of your care. IV sedation and oral sedation are especially strong options for patients with dental phobia, because they induce a sleep-like state. You won’t feel anything during the procedure, and you’re not likely to remember it. Nitrous oxide can be used to keep you alert but calm during your treatment. Local anesthetic is applied or injected to a treatment site and numbs only that specific area. With these tools, your transformation to a new smile can be smooth and comfortable.
